AI Visibility Audit
One URL. Seven branches. A citation-readiness score for ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and Perplexity — in about 60 seconds.
TL;DR
An AI visibility audit scores a URL on the seven signals that determine whether ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and Perplexity will cite it: indexability, snippet CTR, intent value, trust and E-E-A-T, schema, AI citeability, and red-team risk. Each branch is scored 0–10. Below 5 is critical; 8+ is citation-ready.
The seven branches we audit
Each branch runs as a dedicated agent. Scores are combined into a weighted AI Readiness score.
Indexability
15%Can AI crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Googlebot) actually reach and parse the page.
Snippet & CTR
15%Whether the title and description earn the click when the page appears in an AI answer or SERP.
Intent & Value
20%Whether the content actually answers the query behind an AI response — not just the keyword.
Trust & E-E-A-T
20%Author bylines, dates, citations, and organization signals AI models weigh before citing a source.
Schema
10%Structured data that anchors extraction — Article, FAQPage, HowTo, Organization, Product.
AI Citeability
20%Is there a 40–60 word answer capsule, a scannable table, or a numbered how-to an LLM can lift?
Red Team Risk
adversarialAn adversarial pass looking for reasons an AI would refuse to cite you — stale claims, contradictions, YMYL risk.
How scoring works
Every branch is scored on the same 0–10 scale. Thresholds are published so you know exactly what a number means.
8.0 – 10
Citation-readyThe page clears the technical, trust, and extraction bars AI engines look for.
5.0 – 7.9
Needs fixOne or more branches are dragging the page below the citation threshold. Fixable.
< 5.0
CriticalStructural blockers. AI systems are unlikely to cite the page until these are resolved.
We use a numeric scale instead of pass/fail because most pages fail some branches and clear others — a single verdict hides the actual work. See the full methodology →

How our score maps to real AI citation behavior
The seven branches aren't arbitrary. They map to the specific on-page features AI answer engines look for when deciding what to cite.
Independent analyses of ChatGPT's response corpus show that short, self-contained answer capsules — roughly 40–60 words, positioned inside a paragraph, without links interrupting the sentence — are the single strongest citation vehicle on a page. Our AI Citeability branch checks specifically for these capsules and flags their absence.
Structured content — tables, numbered how-to steps, and FAQ-style Q&A blocks — also punches above its weight for citations, especially in professional-services and listicle queries. Our Schema and AI Citeability branches evaluate both the machine-readable markup and the visible structure that gives an LLM something clean to lift.
The Trust & E-E-A-T branch reflects the other half of the citation decision: whether an engine believes you enough to cite you. Bylines, dates, source links, and organization signals all feed into that verdict.

When to reach for something else
We audit a single URL deeply. That's the job we do best. These jobs are better served by other tools:
- Continuous monitoring of brand mentions across AI engines — dedicated monitoring products track mentions and share of voice over time. Compare us against those in our tool comparisons.
- Site-wide crawls of thousands of URLs — traditional SEO crawlers cover that ground. Use them for breadth, use us for depth on the pages that matter.
- Human strategy and consulting deliverable — an agency service will pair analysis with roadmap work. Our report gives them the diagnostic to start from.
Frequently asked questions
An AI visibility audit scores a single URL on the signals that determine whether ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and Perplexity will cite it: indexability, snippet CTR, intent value, trust and E-E-A-T, schema, AI citeability, and red-team risk. A Google SEO audit measures how well a page ranks in the classic Google index. An AI visibility audit measures whether AI answer engines will extract from and cite the page. A page can rank on page one of Google and still be invisible in ChatGPT because it lacks a clean answer capsule, structured data, or trust signals AI models weigh.
The audit is designed around signals that matter most to ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and Perplexity — the three engines with the highest citation volume. The same signals overlap with Claude, Gemini, and Copilot, but those three are the primary targets.
Your first audit is free and does not require a credit card. A free account gives you 5 audits per month. Paid packs start at $29/month for 100 audits.
Yes. Any public URL works. Auditing competitors is one of the fastest ways to see why they're being cited (or why they aren't) and what to fix on your own pages.
This is a per-URL, on-demand audit. You run it when you publish, when you make a significant content change, or when you want to benchmark against a competitor. If you need continuous brand-mention monitoring across AI engines, a dedicated monitoring tool is a better fit.
Re-audit after any significant content, schema, or template change. For stable high-value pages, a quarterly re-run catches regressions and new AI crawler behaviors.
The audit runs against any public URL regardless of language, but the recommendations and answer-capsule analysis are calibrated for English content. Non-English support is on the roadmap.
